I am a champion for all women, but as a black woman who knows of the particular challenges we face, I am especially encouraged when I see what is called “black girl magic’ shining brightly for all to see.
Black women are rising! Rising even in the face of one of the most challenging couple of years in most of our lives.
But guess what? When black women rise, ALL women rise. The truth is all women are rising in these uncertain times. We are rising as a collective, lifting each other higher in the process.
I see this with my clients. Women stepping out and owning their brilliance to harness their influence to positively help those they serve.

My Personal Training Saga
I recently had a personal trainer push me further than I thought my body could handle. I was near tears at one point and truth be told, I was acting like a big baby. I was yelling, “I can’t do it!”, “It’s too hard,” “I’m not built for this.” At one point I swear I almost punched him in frustration. He paid me no mind and kept challenging me and encouraging me that I could. For all my whining and resistance, I finished the workout. I couldn’t believe it. And even though I could barely squat down to use the toilet days later, I realized that if I did it once I could do it again.
It’s been a month and I am still going strong, starting to see the tone in my arms and legs, wanting to challenge my body even more. Without my trainer’s help, I would have never thought I could lift that many weights and maintain a routine like that. Ever! He helped me see what was possible for me. He is helping me achieve my fitness goals.
