The Successful Woman’s Guide to Celebrating Her Wins: Part 2

In Part 1 of this post, I discussed five truths about celebrating your wins so that as a purpose-driven woman, you are motivated to accomplish even more down the road. Be sure to read that post first.

As an ambitious go-getting woman, it can be challenging for you to take a moment to savor your success. You get so caught up in achieving, you find it hard to take in the journey. You feel me, right? This not only makes you miss out on the vistas (learnings and growth opportunities) along the way but it also diminishes your ability to reap more success down the road.

Celebrating your wins may be a struggle at first. I’ll tell you what I tell the enterprising women I coach—while it may feel uncomfortable at first, or even silly, with repetition it will start to become your default. The only way to change a habit is to start doing it consistently until it becomes familiar, and this is no different. The key to making this become a new practice for you is finding ways to celebrate that connect for you, motivate you, or inspire you. The point of celebrating is to encourage yourself along the way so make sure that encouragement is meaningful to you.

In Part 1, we covered these five truths:

1.     Find a way to celebrate that excites you so much that it truly motivates you to achieve your goal.

2.     Celebrate the small wins along the way too.

3.     It’s important to mark your progress towards your goal with a reward.

4.     Be strategic in planning for the celebration of your wins.

5.     Use Visioning to see yourself achieving your goal, reaching that milestone, or performing that special task with excellence.

Here are a few more to get you sold on the notion of celebrating your success.

1.     Try to pair your celebration with self-caring activities so you will be rewarded by them. Spa packages including massages, facials, or bodywork are all amazing ways to treat yourself in compassionate ways. So is taking a day off to just exhale or partake in that hobby you never make time for anymore.

2.     Savor it. Taking the time to soak up your accomplishments, cheer yourself on, and pat yourself on the back all help you to savor the moment. This also helps you reflect on what went well or what you would do differently so you can be in a state of continuous improvement as you strive towards the completion of your greatest career goal.

3.     When you can give yourself credit for your accomplishments, you’re also boosting your confidence in your ability to realize your vision. By celebrating you are validating for yourself your unique strengths, your growing expertise, and your core competencies. As a woman serious about making an impact, you’ll want to do this routinely so you continue to fortify your confidence in your work or business. The strengthened sense of self you attain will attract even more opportunities for you to achieve even loftier goals in the future.

Having read all these truths, how committed are you to celebrating your success? What is one step you could take today to move forward in this direction? Abound in your amazing brilliance friend, and take a moment to say to yourself, “Atta girl!”
