How much are your fears crippling your career?
The fear of failing or making a wrong decision stop so many women from taking the steps necessary to be in a role, job or business that truly makes them soar and gives them the gratification they've been craving.
You know you want work that leverages your strengths, which engages you, that is aligned with your passions, which walks in your purpose, and more, but your fear keeps you stuck.
I address this fear of failing in my new book, It's Your Time to Shine Girl because 1. I've been there done that and 2. I understand how prevalent it is and how it keeps so many of us back from making an impact.
People often say to me, you're so confident, brave, and fearless. And I always have to respond that I don't always know how things will turn out, I don't always have the answers, that I am usually terrified of change, and that I struggle with doubt and insecurity too. But here's the difference—I don't let those fears and doubts stop me. I move forward IN SPITE of the uncertainty, fears, or doubts.
I was just sharing with a colleague yesterday that I think what motivates me to walk down those uncertain career paths is that my faith trumps my fears, and my clarity about my Why is way stronger than those “wanna be” crippling fears and doubts.
And this is one of the things that I help my clients do as the Brilliance Unveiler. I help them get clarity in their purpose so their confidence about their calling supersedes any fears (and we tackle those fears too!).
None of us is immune from uncertainty, doubt, or fears. But what separates those who move forward anyway from those who are stuck is their assuredness of their greater purpose and their true desire to make an impact.
And their courage. Courage doesn’t mean we aren’t afraid—it just means we proceed even as we feel scared.
This is why so many of the women I work with end up being trailblazers, change makers, and waymakers.
