Embrace a Possibilities Mindset in 2022
One of my clients recently was excitedly sharing all the doors that seemed to be magically opening for her. As I listened with awe at the amazing opportunities available to her, I asked her whether these were really new opportunities or whether she was only now ready to receive them. It gave her pause.
What I helped her see is as her mindset started to shift, as her confidence grew, and as she believed the truth about the strengths and skills she brought to the table, opportunities that were invisible to her before became unveiled. The opportunities had been there. She just wasn’t ready to claim them.
When we play bigger in our minds, when we believe in the infinite possibilities abounding all around for us, the veil is removed from our eyes and we see more of what is true. It’s our openness to the possibilities that unveils the opportunities that connect with our brilliance!
When we claim our gifts and talents and fully believe in our potential, we can stand tall and secure in our value and share our brilliance with the world, making our full impact.
Sometimes we are the biggest barriers to our blessings. Our imposter syndrome, feelings of inadequacy, insecurity, fears—they all impede our potential. If we can’t fully see our worth and value how can we expect others to?
Often as women, we take up less space in prominent spaces by making ourselves smaller when we feel out of place, inadequate, or insecure. We slouch, keep our head down, draw in our arms and legs, or slump our shoulders. Or we move to the back of the room, speak softer or not at all. We’re diminishing our presence by these behaviors and when we do that, we’re also telling ourselves that we’re not enough.
Physically minimizing our presence communicates a lack of authority, influence, and power. It conveys doubt about our right to be present and take up space, to be seen fully, to be visible enough to be acknowledged.
Similarly, too many of us wait to be invited into rooms and spaces where we already have a seat because our playing small mindset can’t even comprehend that we truly belong.
What does a possibility mindset usher in for you this year?
Stand on Isaiah 43: 18-19
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
This is about possibility—infinite possibilities!
Are you paying attention to what God is trying to do in your life? Do you even see it? Do you believe it? What’s holding you back?
A new year is upon us. I pray we use the reboot and reset to begin anew and be ready to receive the amazing blessings and possibilities that are waiting for us.
Happy New Year!
